Software & DevOps Engineer
I build things for the web, quarrel with servers, and spend an unreasonable amount of time making sure deployments don't break. When things do break (and they will), I've gotten pretty good at reading logs/traces and pretending I knew what the issue was all along.
Most of my time goes into learning 汉字/Mandarin (turns out chinese characters are just as complex as configuring HAProxy), working on projects that'll hopefully see the light of day here, and fumbling around with a 1990 Sony Camera for a "newly acquired hobby".
The journey of a thousand commits begins with a single PR, or something like that.
More content about interests and current projects will be added here...
Africa Quantitative Sciences (Kigali, 2025)
Help build health resource tracking systems for national infrastructure. Worked with Python, Node.js, and Java to connect different services, designed databases, and set up deployment pipelines with Docker and K3s. Configured load balancers to keep everything running smoothly when traffic picked up.
Pivot Access (Kigali, 2024-2025)
Focused on observability, making sure systems are actually visible when they're running. Set up monitoring with Grafana, Loki, Tempo, and Prometheus, built custom integrations to track what apps were doing, and created dashboards so teams could spot problems before users did. Turns out watching systems is almost as interesting as building them.
Umurava (Kigali, 2023-2024)
Full-stack development with Node.js and both MongoDB and PostgreSQL. Built APIs, handled authentication with AWS Cognito, integrated cloud services like S3 and Cognito
