Software & DevOps Engineer
I build things for the web, quarrel with servers, and spend an unreasonable amount of time making sure deployments don't break. When things do break (and they will), I've gotten pretty good at reading logs/traces and pretending I knew what the issue was all along.
Most of my time goes into learning 汉字/Mandarin and working on projects that'll hopefully see the light of day or discussed here.
The journey of a thousand commits begins with a single PR, or something like that.
Embedded systems & low level programming
Learning and experimenting with C/C++, currently working on designing and
re-implementation of a Micromouse (an
autonomous maze-solving mouse). The documentation journey will live here.
Clubs for Internationals (老外)
Helping set up and pioneer for clubs, focused on
knowledge sharing and practical computer science projects among Internationals.
Learning Mandarin
Actively studying Mandarin focusing on conversation, tone accuracy, and everyday chatter.
Africa Quantitative Sciences (Kigali, 2025)
Helped build health resource tracking systems for national infrastructure. Worked with
Python, Node.js, and Java to connect services, designed databases, and set up deployment
pipelines with Docker and K3s. Configured load balancers to keep everything running smoothly
as traffic scaled.
Pivot Access (Kigali, 2024 - 2025)
Focused on observability—making sure systems are actually visible when running. Set up
monitoring with Grafana, Loki, Tempo, and Prometheus, built custom integrations, and
designed dashboards so teams could spot problems before users did.
Umurava (Kigali, 2023 - 2024)
Full-stack development with Node.js and both MongoDB and PostgreSQL. Built APIs, handled
authentication with AWS Cognito, and integrated cloud services such as S3 and Cognito.
